Do I lose control over handling my own affairs if I make a Power of Attorney?
No. As long as you are not incompetent or incapacitated, you (the Principal) retain the right to control your property and finances and act for yourself, but the Power of Attorney also enables the Attorney-in-Fact to act for you during this time as well.
