Federal law permits nonprofits to engage in lobbying.
Cancer Legal Care's mission to engage the law to resolve the complex challenges for people and communities affected by cancer is put into action by the following activities:
- providing direct legal care services to Minnesotans affected by cancer, and
- advocating for policy changes to improve the conditions which so often lead to our clients' legal issues.
As a 501(c)(3), Cancer Legal Care has taken the IRS 501h election in order track and report our time spent on lobbying activities (attempting to influence legislation) and as we engage in IRS approved efforts.
